Google says “Machine Learning is the future”

The Machine Learning Research Group (MLRG) aims to advance and promote machine learning research at national and international levels and to disseminate research excellence to the global artificial intelligent community. Machine Learning is the most common technique for making predictions or classifying information to help people make the appropriate decisions. 

The world is evolving and so are people's desires and needs. Additionally, we are undergoing a fourth industrial data revolution. In order to gain useful insights from this data and learn from the way people and the system interface with the data, we need computational algorithms that can churn the information and provide us with results that will assist us in many angles. Industries like manufacturing, medicine, healthcare, development, banking, and many other industries have been revolutionized by Machine Learning. Machine learning has thus, become a crucial component of modern industry. 

A significant aspect of our work is that all research activities are driven by the current and anticipated automation needs of any relevant industry in accordance with the requirements of Industrial Revolution 4.0. Our primary objective is to expand current research interests and explore opportunities to extend machine learning research activities through collaboration with associated research groups and the relevant industries. We are unselfish in our goals and aim to establish joint research projects with partnering institutions within UiTMs, Malaysia and internationally. 

We acknowledge the importance of research as a major contributor to the education of modern engineers. The goal of setting up a machine learning research and teaching nexus within the Universiti Teknologi MARA is to become one of the recognized centres of excellence focusing on machine learning research and to produce machine learning engineers capable of addressing the issues of the 21st century.
